Summerseat Park officially opened on March 23rd, but the journey to this vibrant new space began much earlier, and it all started with a conversation.
Knowing the importance of inclusivity, early consultations took place with the children at Summerseat Methodist School who were encouraged to share their ideas on what makes the perfect park. Parents and residents were also encouraged to share their thoughts too.
Weaving Ideas into Reality
The collected ideas formed the foundation for the park’s design. Elements that resonated with the children were incorporated into the plans, like a climbing frame fit for budding explorers, a zip line, and of course, the ever-important swings! Safety and accessibility were paramount, so the design ensured a fun and inclusive environment for all ages and abilities.
Here’s how the project came to life.

This fantastic new addition to the village was made possible thanks to a joint funding effort by FCC Recycling UK (£99,350), Suez (£49,589), and Bury Council (£20,000).
A huge thank you to Proffitts for creating this beautiful space for children to make memories and have fun.
