I would like to start by wishing everyone a happy new year. I hope the weather isn’t causing anyone any troubles.
I know I’ve been silent but I’ve been busy with just about everything. I keep meaning to post an update earlier but sitting down hasn’t been an option.
So let’s go back in time a bit.
The surveys for the island have been completed, and nothing stands out in them. They provide us with the reassurance that we are on the right path, affirming that our decisions are well-founded and aligned with our goals.

With the storms we have had over the past few months, I was expecting the trees to receive a large amount of damage. I was quite surprised when the trees came through the rough treatment with only a few big branches and considerable (small in the grand scheme of things) small branches.
(No picture of mall amounts of tree damage so have one of a butterfly instead)

The island beekeepers have harvested their honey. This is for sale but at the moment no shops want to stock it. So if you want some please message the page and we will try to arrange a place and time.

Actual maintenance
Before Christmas, a lot of effort went into preparing for winter. This means leaf clearing, leaf clearing, and you guessed it more leaf clearing.
We also cleared the main path entrance of the encroaching soil and plants/grass. It was amazing how wide the paths actually were once we removed the years of soil.

We won’t forget about the Herbie light turn on.
Without Viv running the show for the first year, I’ve had to step in.
That took a week for me and a spare couple of days from Emma to decorate. The thanks and acknowledgements are on the Summerseat Village Collective FB page.
I’m glad it seemed to go without a hitch, although I always belive theirs room for improvement. If there is any feedback please do pass it along.

And finally, with this heavy snow iv been down to the island looking for animal tracks. Unfortunately, the temperature had risen and the snow had started to melt so they were few and far between. Those I did find can anyone else identify them? I’ll even leave a clue in the last picture for some of the tracks.

And as usual, there’s still a lot of work to be done and we could do with help. If you are interested in helping please fill in THIS form.
Thanks for reading
